A Passionate Heart

L'Chaim Messianic Congregation, Lake Worth Florida, Palm Beaches

We need to discover how to be passionate about the things GOD is passionate about. The Word of GOD teaches us over and over again that we are to help hurting people. Our ABBA FATHER is passionate about helping the widows, the fatherless, the poor, the needy, the oppressed, the hungry, the naked, and the homeless!

As our Scripture of the day tells us, GOD is looking to and fro for people who will have a heart and compassion for such people. Let’s be one of those people whose heart is seeking after Him and His compassion for the needy! GOD always desires for us to enjoy our life, but He never wants us to forget about the poor, lost, and needy! GOD will put such people in our path, and when He does, let’s find a way to make a difference in their lives. We may not be able to do everything, but we all can do something!

2 Chronicles 16:9A
For the eyes of the Lord runs to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

Let our passion be for the things GOD is passionate about! Seek out where you can actively make a difference in someone’s life.

A True Follower

L'Chaim Messianic Congregation, Lake Worth Florida, Palm Beaches

When YESHUA walked this earth, a vast multitude followed Him. They came for many reasons, some noble, some selfish. The same is still true today. Not all that seek GOD are really His followers!

Let’s take a look at our own walk and ask ourselves, “What do we want from Him?” How committed are we to being His disciples?

In the Bible, some followed YESHUA because they had urgent needs that He alone could meet. Some wanted to see signs and miracles and feel that thrill of excitement.

Today, some go to their congregation only to get pumped up.

However, mountaintop experiences are usually followed by valleys! Then when hardships come, they are quick to abandon the LORD!

John 6:2

A huge crowd kept following Him wherever He went, because they saw His miraculous signs as He healed the sick.

Are you more interested in what YESHUA can do for you than in just being with Him?

Do you find it hard to stay committed without an emotional experience to sustain you?

Our physical and emotional needs can draw us to the LORD, but they should never be the foundation for our walk with Him!

Being Still

L'Chaim Messianic Congregation, Lake Worth Florida, Palm Beaches

Temptations, trials and suffering—we’ve all experienced them! Even as Messiah followers (sometimes especially because we’re believers), we must endure pain whether through loss, bankruptcy, unemployment or broken relationships!

While no one is immune to hard times, believers are empowered through the Holy Spirit to endure them.

Our verse today tells us to “Be still” and know who GOD is! This indicates that our best response to disappointments is to trust in the LORD!

When troubles come (and they will come), it’s really easy to get caught up in our emotions, but we need to be wise in the Word of GOD and learn to be still, trust, and wait on the One who can work it all out for our good (Rom. 8:28)!

Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am GOD. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

While on this earth, troubles won’t ever vanish (John 16:33)! But when storms are brewing on the horizon, buckle up and trust GOD to guide you through!

God’s Purpose

L'Chaim Messianic Congregation, Lake Worth Florida, Palm Beaches

When we read Psalm 46:10, we see that it instructs us to “Be still” during times of difficulty. That Scripture means we should stop trying to manipulate our circumstances and instead allow GOD to work!

Understanding a verse is one thing, but putting it into action during difficult time is entirely different! So how are we to “Be still” when we’re facing hard times?

First, we must understand that the LORD is allowing our difficulties.

If we believe that He is in control, then we must also believe He has permitted this trial to happen!

Second, it may be hard to comprehend, but there is a purpose behind our trials, even when it all seems confusing.

GOD won’t allow hardships to come our way without good reason, if we respond correctly, we may look back one day on the experience as a stepping stone for growth in our spiritual walk!

1 Peter 4:12-13
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trials which is to try you as though some strange thing happened to you, but rejoice to the extent that you partake of MESSIAH‘S sufferings.

GOD hasn’t disappeared, and He isn’t ignoring us. He has a purpose in everything, even in the most challenging of circumstances! Trust always!

Tested by God’s Promise

L'Chaim Messianic Congregation, Lake Worth Florida, Palm Beaches

“God sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. They afflicted his feet with fetters; he himself was laid in irons, until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him.” Psalm 105:17–19

The life of Joseph began with great promise. Earlier in his youth, the Lord gave him a dream that showed him that he would be elevated to a position of great authority. He would rule over his brothers. Even his father and mother would come bowing down before him.

What happened next?

The very opposite of what God had promised. His brothers betrayed him, sold him as a slave into Egypt, and, because he was faithful to his Egyptian master, he eventually ended up in prison. He was in fetters, his soul was in iron.

How did Joseph respond to that situation? Did he say to himself, “Everything’s gone wrong! The Lord’s promise will never come true”?

No, I don’t believe that.

It says, “Until the time that the promise came, the word of the Lord tested him.”

How important it is to see that when the Lord gives us a promise, many times everything that happens next will seem to be the very opposite of what God has promised. It’s so important that at times like that we don’t give up on the promise, and we don’t say, “God has forgotten; God has failed.”

You see, that promise that God gave us is testing us. It’s testing our faith and our constancy to see if we’ll hold on in the darkest hour. And when we pass the test, then, like Joseph, the promise will be fulfilled.
