Adventure of Faith

L'Chaim Messianic Congregation, Lake Worth Florida, Palm Beaches

A committed and consistent prayer life is essential for every believer who wants to grow in his relationship with YESHUA! Are you struggling in this area? Let’s take a look at some hindrances!

Some find it easy to pray when there is an urgent need, but once the urgency has passed, they drift back into not spending time with the LORD!

Then there is the time factor. Some think they are too busy to fit prayer into their schedule. Some may even think, “Why pray? GOD never seems to answer anyhow.” And they think it’s a waste of time!

But the Word tells us just the opposite as we read in our Scripture today.

James 5:16B
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

GOD didn’t design prayer as simply an avenue for requests. Spending time in conversation with our heavenly FATHER is meant to help us know Him and love Him! Then as we grow in passion for Him, spending that time we set apart each day will become a delight, and life will turn into an adventure of faith!

Touching the Heart of God

Encouraging Words with Pastor Bruce & Suzi Elman

Prayer is simple conversation with GOD and He always wants us to take all of our needs and concerns to Him! Expressing our concerns is certainly appropriate, but the most important part of prayer is focusing on GOD Himself—loving & worshipping Him!

There are three things about ABBA that we are to ponder in our prayer time; His name, His Kingdom and His will.

YESHUA taught us the “LORD’S Prayer” which begins with “Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name” – which brings us humbly into GOD’S presence with praise and thanksgiving! Then the prayer continues, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done”; This is when we are declaring our faith in the coming Kingdom of GOD and asking that the rule of MESSIAH be over our lives.

(Matthew 6:9-10A “In this manner, Therefore pray; Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done… “) When we pray like this, let’s have a willing spirit! Let the words we pray be meaningful which will touch the heart of GOD every time!

Prayerlessness

Encouraging Words with Pastor Bruce & Suzi Elman

It may sound simple, but it is true – our prayers are not answered when we do not pray! Just as our scripture for today states, we have to ask for what we need and want!

Sometimes we work on our situations, in our thoughts; we discuss them with our family and friends and wish and hope for them to be taken care of. But, all that is not prayer!

Prayer is going to ABBA  “in the name of Yeshua” and asking Him to give us an answer to our needs! As a matter of fact, He is waiting for us to come to Him in faith knowing He is ready and able to act on our behalf if we only believe. His love for us is unconditional and His desire is always to bless us beyond measure, but until we come to Him in prayer, His hands are tied!

James 4:2C “You do not have because you do not ask… “

Open the door for GOD to intervene in your situation with prayer. Don’t ever let prayerlessness hinder GOD from working in your life and the lives of your loved ones! He is waiting!

Choose to Forgive

Encouraging Words with Pastor Bruce & Suzi Elman

Last week we talked about our prayer life and some of the hindrances to unanswered prayer. I truly believe that the number one hindrance is unforgiveness!

The Bible contains many scriptures on the importance of forgiveness! We are to forgive as GOD in MESSIAH forgave us (Ephesians 4:32).

We live in a fallen world full of imperfect people and we can’t avoid the fact of getting hurt or offended. We will always have a reason to be angry, but unresolved anger will turn to bitterness and unforgiveness, and that will hinder our prayers.

If we want GOD to answer our prayers, let’s go to Him with a pure heart – empty of any anger, resentment or unforgiveness!

YESHUA made it very clear in our scripture today; let’s read it.
Mark 11:25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your ABBA in heaven may also forgive you, your trespasses… ”

Don’t wait until you feel like forgiving, make it an intentional choice to forgive and remember forgiveness will set a prisoner free and that prisoner is you!❤️🙏🙏

Pray About Everything

Encouraging Words with Pastor Bruce & Suzi Elman

You and I can be sincere Messianic Believers eager to please GOD in all we do and still have honest questions about prayer. Even though YESHUA’S’ disciples spent a lot of personal time with Him, they still felt the need to ask Him to teach them how to pray!

Yeshua helped them (Luke 11:2-4), check it out. I believe that when we ask Him, He will help us too. As a result, we will not only experience increased effectiveness, freedom and enjoyment in our prayer life, but also greater closeness in our relationship with Him. We should not be intimidated by the ideal of prayer; we should actually look forward to spending time doing something that is meant to come naturally—like breathing!

Luke 11:1 “Now it came to pass as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples… ”

Our Creator loves us and longs for fellowship with us every day. We can and should pray anywhere, anytime and about anything and everything. GOD wants to hear from you today, He’s waiting!
